Mystic Forest

Creating the space to breathe, reflect, and exist in the present moment.

Slow, deep inhales of damp, fresh air.
Scents of nature surrounding you.
Not even sure what brought you here,
yet it’s exactly where you’re meant to be.

The haze creeping through the redwoods,
providing a sense of mystery.

What came before, drop it.
What comes next, let it be.

Here. Now. Present.

Existing.
Creating.
Breathing in…out.

Alive.

40 Laps Around the Sun

Change is always right around the corner. Stay ready.

For my 40th birthday we decided to take it back to where it all began. My family lived in Pacifica during some of my early years. The core memories of a foggy beach with sounds of violent, crashing waves on the rocks. The fisherman on the pier with their slimey bait. Walking the pier on this day, there was an eerie feeling that we should get back on stable ground. Two weeks later, city engineers discovered severe cracking and separation, closing the pier indefinitely. The cafe that stood at the base of the pier for 30 years was demolished as a safety precaution. I'm grateful to have seen the pier as I knew it growing up one last time.

Time / Change

A reflection on growth, time, and transformation.

Seasons changing, time for growth.
Shedding stagnant ways, like layers of clothes.
Less weight on the body, the sun nourishes the soul.

Not enough hours in the day.
I think they just stole another one.
Up before the sun, witness to darkness becoming light.

Grateful for the time.
Ready for some change.
